High Bridge To West Saint Paul

Taking the Smith Avenue High Bridge from the West End of Saint Paul up to the West Side of Saint Paul, Minnesota. One heck of a climb up the giant river bluff over looking the Great Mississippi River. This is video #1 in a series of videos I intend to post debunking the myth of a flat Midwest by showing off the climbs around the big hills of beautiful old Saint Paul. Soon I will post more climbs around the hills of Saint Paul, including up Summit Avenue to Cathedral Hill, up to the ancient Indian Burial Mounds via Kellogg (almost 1000 ft) and my personal favorite heading up the switch backs on Ohio Street from Harriett Island! Enjoy!

John Denver Trail Of Tears.wmv

No more beautiful moons may we spend on our land In the north, the scarlet council talks of war And the long knives have massacred the tribe and burned corn We’re not welcome in our homeland anymore No more songs of the hunters on the baffalo plain No more smoke from sacred fires touch these hills And the numbers of the people grow fewer every mile And our children will not leave the Great Spirit’s ways There will be a trail of tears There will be a trail of pain And Jackson will have the Mississippi and the twenty dollar bill But for us the trail is all that will remain On the streets of rapid City On the road to Wounded Knee There is whiskey for forgetting everything But the old ones say there may be time learning from each other The way that it had once been meant to be There is still a trail of tears There is still a trail of pain And Jackson has got the Mississippi and the twenty dollar bill But for us the trail of tears remains And Jackson has got the Mississippi and the twenty dollar bill But how long will the trail of tears remain Words and Music by Randy Handley

See This Video about Green Giants

See This Video about Green Giants Thuja Green Giant arbs growth Rate see www.greengiantarbs.com for more about green giants and how fast they grow. We are Highland Hill farm of Fountainville Pa 18923 call us at 215 651 8329 The original Green Giant got its name not from ancient lore, but from unusually extra large, hence “giant,” green peas. These “Green Giant Peas” were introduced by the Minnesota Valley Canning Company in 1925, in contrast to their previously marketed LeSueur baby peas, early-picked in June. Founded in 1903, this pea company was located in the valley of the Minnesota River, the Dakota Sioux name for “cloudy water,” just southwest of Minneapolis and St. Paul, the state capital. This is where there’s a “confluence” with the even cloudier and muddier Mississippi River giving the whole area, including the surrounding towns like LeSueur, the title of “the Minnesota Valley.” Lesueur is the name of the original explorer of the area, a Frenchmen of the early 1700′s. By 1950, the “Jolly Green Giant” was so popular, such an “icon” as we say today, with a cartoon character created, etc., he became the basis of the company’s new name. So that is where Green Giant comes from, modern marketing, not ancient lore… The Green Giant Arborvitae is more properly named by tree scientists the “Thuja Plicata,” with the other common historic names being, “giant cedar,” also “western cedar,” and “red cedar.” There’s only one other Arborvitae specie in all of North America, the

Get Down! The National Ornamental Metal Museum, Live From Memphis

National Ornamental Metal Museum 374 Metal Museum Drive 901-774-6380 The National Ornamental Metal Museum is the only institution in the United States devoted exclusively to the preservation and promotion of fine metalwork. Unlike ordinary museums, it isnt just a place where art is displayed; its a place where art is made. At the Metal Museum you can see works of art, see artists work, learn the craft and craft the art. The Museum also has incredible outdoor event space, ongoing exhibits and classes open to the public. Chickasaw Indian Mounds Chickasaw Heritage Park Across from the Metal Museum youll see some huge hills. Those are actually mounds. About 1600 AD, a thousand or so years before foreign explorers entered the region, the warlike Chickasaw Indians controlled the bluffs. These Indians came to be known as Mound builders, for these massive mounds they built that overlook the Mississippi River. After the French and Indian War in 1763, England gained control of the bluffs although the area was Chickasaw by treaty. The Indians, French, English, Spanish and new “Americans” coexisted along the river trading and skirmishing until Tennessee became a US territory in 1790, and then a state in 1796. Although this land legally belonged to the Chickasaw Indians, the new settlers would eventually take it over. In 1818 the Chickasaws relinquished their northern territory, including the land that would become the City of Memphis. Five Spot GE Patterson at Main Street Behind

Missouri Town Loses Battle Against Miss. River

PlusMissouri Town Loses Battle Against Miss. RiverMissouri Town Loses Battle Against Miss. RiverThe Associated PressA makeshift barrier holding back the Mississippi River failed early Saturday, swamping the low-lying part of the small community of Winfield and ending a valiant but ultimately doomed battle against the surging river. (June 28)AFTER THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER BURST THROUGH WINFIELD’S PIN OAK LEVEE FRIDAY…NATIONAL GUARD SOLDIERS AND VOLUNTEERS WORKED FEVERISHLY TO BUILD A SECOND LEVEE AROUND A CLUSTER OF ABOUT 100 HOMES.RESIDENTS HOPED THE BARRIER WOULD KEEP THE WATER AT BAY LONG ENOUGH FOR THE RIVER TO RECEDE.BUT THE EFFORT FAILED. [Notes:SOT -- ANDY BINDER/COUNTY PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER] it makes us sick to our stomach…you just want to cry….there’s not a whole lot you can do…for that community….i went out and looked at it at 6:30….and the water had completely engulfed it.
